Coorg

Madikeri is the picturesque capital of Kodagu (also called Coorg,) the land of coffee, cardamom, colonels, and the Cauvery. The capital of Kodagu district is located in a beautiful hilly setting surrounded by the forested slopes of the Western Ghats. Here, time seems to have stopped. From Hassan, the road to Coorg is 109 Km in distance and the drive past coffee and tea plantations will take you about 4 hrs 30 min on SH 57 & SH 21. Click here

An uphill climb from the Port town of Mangalore, the journey can be covered in less than 5 hrs (136 Km). Though very scenic, the roads owing to frequent rains may not be in the best shape at all times. From Kochi, Calicut via Wayanad:

This popular tourist circuit route is again one of the best driving routes in South India. Passing through the Ghat region, will take approximately 5 hrs (135 Km) from Wayanad into Coorg on the SH 17D, SH 21 & SH 88A route. Click here
