Jog Falls:

It’s a wonderfully un forgettable sight… nature's headlong tumble as the Sharavati river makes a spectacular drop of 810ft. (253m) in four distinct cascades - known locally as Raja, Rani, Roarer, and Rocket - to create among the highest falls in Asia. The falls are at their best during the monsoon, with arching rainbows colouring the mist. When the sluice gates of the upstream Linganamakki Dam are closed, it is worth taking a walk right down to the bottom of the gorge.

Bangalore is connected daily to Shimoga, the closest town to Jog Falls by a night train. A night train, it starts from Bangalore at 2315 hours reaching Shimoga at 0610 hours. Conveniently, after a day’s visit the train starts from Shimoga at 2210 hours and returns to Bangalore at 0430 hours. Click here
